Seven deadly sins of omission & commission

We are born innocent, but - the moment we look into our mother’s eyes - we learn to manipulate. The first time we pout we learn the rewards of blackmail. The first time we smile we discover our latent talent for seduction.

Sin defines our moral universe. Vice is kinetic and magnetic. Virtue is inert and without attraction. Sin makes the world go round (or at least makes the rotations interesting). Such are the immutable laws of the universe. Still, strangely, sin is thought to be iniquitous.

Nobody thinks of his or her own insensitivity, cruelty and selfishness as unjustifiable. We are each the centre of our own universe; all the lesser planets are in their orbit thanks to our mass. When these satellites get out of line, or forget the laws of our gravity, they deserve the consequences they suffer - simple fair and just retribution for having the audacity to burp at our movable feast.

There are Ten Commandments, but only seven deadly sins. Curious. Dare I hope there are three transgressions free of sanction? Have I found the loophole?
